Revatio is under investigation after studies linked its active ingredient sildenafil with an 84% increased risk of melanoma skin cancer. Nearly 500 lawsuits have been filed by people with cancer who used sildenafil and similar medications.

Revatio Class Action Lawsuit
Pfizer is facing hundreds of lawsuits from men who developed melanoma after taking sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra and Revatio. However, instead of a class action, individual lawsuits are centralized in one federal Multi-District Litigation (MDL No. 2691).
The MDL is overseen by U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg in the Northern District of California — In RE: Viagra and Cialis Products Liability Litigation.
Does Revatio Cause Melanoma?
Revatio contains sildenafil, a drug that might make melanoma more aggressive and likely to spread, according to recent studies. One of the most concerning studies found an 84% increased risk of melanoma among men who reported using sildenafil. The study was published by Harvard researchers in 2014.
Melanoma and PDE5
Revatio works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5), which relaxes blood vessels and reduces pressure in the lungs of adults with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. This is the same way Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra treat erectile dysfunction. The problem is that about 50% of highly-aggressive, fast-growing melanomas naturally inhibit PDE5.
Studies Linking PDE5 Inhibitors and Melanoma
In 2011, a study found that medications that block PDE5 cause a “dramatic increase in melanoma cell invasion.” In 2012, another study showed that PDE5 inhibitors promote the synthesis of melanin in melanoma skin cancer.
What is the problem?
The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm in Texas, but our attorneys are not currently filing a Revatio class action. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits against drug-makers for failing to warn about the possible risk of melanoma skin cancer.
About Class Actions
Class actions are useful in certain circumstances, such as when a corporation artificially inflates stock prices and defrauds investors by hiding financial information. However, for people with severe injuries from defective medications, class actions can have disadvantages.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
Even if compensation is awarded in a class action, everyone who joins the lawsuit must share the payout. This can be a disadvantage for individuals with far more serious injuries than the average plaintiff.
Our lawyers specialize in holding drug-makers accountable for downplaying serious side effects, putting corporate profits above public safety. If you experienced a severe side effect of Revatio, you are not alone. We may be able to help you seek compensation for your pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost income, and more.
