PQL High Bay Light Recall

In February 2026, PQL, Inc. announced a recall of approximately 186,520 High Bay Linear LED Light Fixtures due to a fire hazard. One fire was reported, but fortunately no one was injured in this incident. PQL is offering a free repair, with the fix being new replacement retaining pins. What is the Defect?

The defect involves the retaining pins inside each fixture. The retaining pins are responsible for holding the LED board securely in place. Over time, those pins can degrade and fail, allowing the LED board to come loose inside the housing. A loose LED board can generate heat and ignite surrounding materials.

According to the CPSC recall notice:

“The retaining pins used to secure the LED board inside some units can degrade allowing the LED board to come loose inside the fixture, posing a fire hazard.”

How Many Texans Are Affected?

PQL has received at least one confirmed report of a fixture catching fire. No injuries have been reported, but the fire risk remains real for anyone still using an affected unit.

Texas is home to a massive concentration of warehouses, commercial facilities, and industrial operations, making it one of the states with the highest number of these fixtures installed. Given that the fixtures were sold nationwide from 2016 through 2025, Texas businesses and property owners could be impacted. Anyone still operating a recalled model faces the risk of a fire with no warning.

Which PQL High Bay Light Fixtures Are Affected?

The recalled fixtures are rectangular, white metal units in 2-foot-wide or 4-foot-wide configurations. They were sold at stores nationwide, including LED Indy, Universal Lighting of America, Inc., Independent Lighting and online for $50 to $350.

The model number is located on the back of each fixture.

The recalled 2-foot-wide models include: 55202, 55203, 55208, 55209, 55209-WC, 55213, 55214, 55222, 55223, 55225, 55226, 55227, 55228, 55360, 55361, 55362, 55363, 55477, 55478, 55480, 55481, 55482, 55483, 55484, 55485, 55504, 55505, 55506, 55507, 55508, 55511, 55512, 55514, 55515, 55518, 55534, 55535, 55536, 55537, 55538, 55539, 55710, 55711, 55712, 55713, 55714, and 55715.

The recalled 4-foot-wide models include: 55213, 55214, 55215, 55230, 55231, 55232, 55364, 55365, 55366, 55367, 55487, 55491, 55492, 55510, 55521, 55716, 55717, 55720, and 55722.
