August 6, 2018 — One worker died and 4 others were injured in a series of natural gas pipeline explosions in Midland County, Texas.
Officials did not release the name or age of the worker who died. He succumbed to his injuries on Friday, August 3, two days after the explosions, according to US News.
The pipeline explosions occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, when workers from 2 pipeline companies were investigating an underground gas leak.
The explosion also injured 2 firefighters on the scene. All of the victims were airlifted Lubbock, Texas for treatment at the burn unit at University Medical Center.
The companies operating the pipelines are Kinder Morgan Inc. and Navitas Midstream Partners.
