Pedego Recalls 400 Fat Tire Trikes For Safety Risks
In December 2025, the California-based e-bike manufacturer Pedego announced an urgent Safety Recall for Fat Tire Trikes, which are three-wheeled electric tricycles for adults, because the frame can break.
What Happened?
Pedego said it received 16 reports of the aluminum frame of the trike cracking and/or breaking near a weld. This may cause the tubes to separate, resulting in a crash, loss of control, or a rider falling off.
According to the recall notice posted on December 18, 2025:
“The trike frame can develop a hairline fracture near a weld, which can cause the tubes to separate, posing fall and laceration hazards.”
How Many Injuries Were Reported?
Pedego received 1 report of a person who suffered a laceration injury (cuts) to their leg that required medical attention. This injury occurred when the frame of the Fat Tire Trike broke, causing a loss of control.
How To Identify Recalled E-Bikes
The recall involves about 400 Pedego Fat Tire Trikes, which are 3-wheeled electric tricycles. They were sold in matte black, with the name “Pedego” printed on the bike.
The bikes have serial numbers ranging from D2312050001 through D2312050522.
Where Were They Sold?
They were sold nationwide at Pedego stores and online at PedegoElectricBikes.com from March 2024 to March 2025 for between $3,500 and $4,000.
What Should I Do?
Owners should immediately stop using the recalled Fat Tire Trikes, let other people in your household know about the recall and warn them not to use the bike, and schedule a free repair at a Pedego dealer.

How Will My Bike Be Repaired?
Pedego said it has “re-engineered and strengthened the section of the frame in question” and will ship a new part to replace the defective piece of the frame in March 2026. The strengthened section of the frame will be installed for free by your local Pedego dealer.
