Panera Salad Lawsuit for E. Coli
July 2018 — Another E. coli lawsuit has been filed against Panera Bread by a woman from New Jersey who suffered severe E. coli food poisoning after eating a lettuce salad from Panera Bread.
The lawsuit was filed by Robin Hall, a woman who became “violently ill” with E. coli a few days after eating a salad from Panera. She was hospitalized with severe food poisoning from March 29 to April 8.
1st Lawsuit Filed for Panera Salad Food Poisoning
In April 2018, the 1st lawsuit was filed against Panera Bread by a woman from New Jersey who suffered from severe E. coli food poisoning after eating a contaminated lettuce salad.
The woman, Louise Fraser, was hospitalized due to severe vomiting and required 3 blood transfusions. She was diagnosed with Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), a life-threatening type of kidney failure.
Yuma, Arizona Lettuce E. Coli Outbreak
Romaine lettuce from Yuma, Arizona sickened at least 201 people in 36 states, according to a report from the CDC. At least 96 people were hospitalized, 27 developed Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, and 5 died in Arkansas, California, Minnesota (2), and New York.
Panera Stops Selling Lettuce from Arizona
Panera Bread stopped selling salads with romaine lettuce from Yuma, Arizona on April 13, 2018, soon after they were notified of the E. coli outbreak. Now, Panera is “only sourcing our romaine from the Salinas, California area,” according to an official statement.
