November 25, 2019 — One man was severely burned in an explosion involving several storage tanks and a truck at a petroleum facility near Midland, Texas, according to the Reuters.
The fire occurred on a property owned by petroleum and petroleum products distributor Oasis Transportation and Marketing Corp.
The fire involve a hot oiler truck, which is used to remove wax deposits from oil wells, caught on fire at the Oasis facility.
Furthermore, four or five tanks were also engulfed in the flames, as well as a firefighter truck caught fire after fuel spilled onto the ground and spread the blaze, according to CBS 7 News.
Esteban Sanchez, 29, suffered burns on his hands and face. He was hospitalized at Midland Memorial Hospital in serious condition, according to officials with Midland County Emergency Management.
Firefighters responded to the incident at about 10:30 a.m. and contained the fire by 1:30 p.m.
Businesses and homes within about a half-mile of the fire were evacuated temporarily.
