OCTROT Recalled 178,000 Heated Blankets Sold on Amazon

On July 30, 2026, the CPSC published a recall covering roughly 178,000 OCTROT heated sherpa throws and blankets. The problem is the power cord, according to the CPSC:

“The electrical cord on the recalled throws and blankets can detach and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire, burn and shock hazards.”

What Goes Wrong With These Heated Blankets?

Defective heated blankets are particularly dangerous because they are often used by people who are asleep or relaxing. The blanket is directly against the person’s skin, and commonly near flammable furniture or other items that could fuel a fire. A cord that detaches and ignites inside a bedroom or living room can potentially spread very quickly.

The recall involves OCTROT electrical heated blankets and throws. They have a fuzzy sherpa surface. The blankets come with a white controller that has 5 temperature settings. The recalled model numbers are:

  • OCT-5060
  • OCT-5062

  • OCT-8490

  • 50 inches by 62 inches
  • 50 inches by 60 inches
  • 62 inches by 84 inches
  • 64 inches by 84 inches
  • 84 inches by 90 inches

Where Were They Sold?

These throws and blankets were sold exclusively online through Amazon.com for about 4 years, between August 2021 and December 2025. They cost around $40 to $60.

Consumers should stop using the recalled throws and blankets immediately and contact OCTROT for a full refund. The company can be reached at 800-928-1807 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, at OctrotRecall@outlook.com, or at www.Octroct.com/recall.

How Many Fires and Injuries Have Been Reported?

Natinowide, OCTROT said it has received 555 reports of the blankets melting, sparking and smoking. Those reports include 27 fires. At least 15 people suffered burn injuries or electrical shocks.

Why the Refund Process Could Affect Your Claim

To get a refund, OCTROT asks consumers to unplug the electrical cord, cut it in half, and email a photo of the destroyed product showing the cut cord.
