Give & Go® Recalls Muffins Nationwide for Listeria Risk

On July 19, 2021, Give & Go Prepared Foods Corp. announced a nationwide recall for several brands of muffins sold at major grocery stores and convenience stores due to a risk of Listeria.

The recalled muffins were sold at stores such as 7-Eleven, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Stop & Shop, and others. The muffins were sold under brand-names such as:

• Freshness Guaranteed®
• Great Value®
• Marketside®

Were Any Illnesses Reported?

Give & Go did not report any illnesses linked to the recalled muffins. Instead, the company issued the recall after tests discovered Listeria monocytogenes bacteria as “part of our environmental monitoring program,” according to the recall posted by the company.

Risk of Listeria Food Poisoning Infections

Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause severe, and sometimes deadly, invasive infections that spread beyond the gastrointestinal system to the brain and other parts of the body. Healthy people experience symptoms like a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain or diarrhea. Pregnant women may have a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infection of the baby.
