Mary B’s Biscuits Recalled for Listeria Risk
In January 2018, Hom/Ade Foods, Inc. announced a voluntary recall for Mary B’s biscuits due to a possible risk of food poisoning with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.
No illnesses were reported, but infections with Listeria can be deadly. An outside co-packer who manufactures Mary B’s biscuits reported a positive test for Listeria from a random sample.

The recalled Mary B’s® biscuits were sold Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Geordia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia at various retail grocery stores.
Listeria Food Poisoning Symptoms
Mary B’s biscuit dough is not sold ready-to-eat and comes with baking instructions. Baking the biscuits should reduce the risk of infection with Listeria, but handling the dough before baking could potentially cause an illness. Symptoms of Listeria infection include fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
