Lunch Box Sandwiches Recalled for Listeria Risk

January 2019 — Grand Stand Sandwich has announced a recall for certain “Lunch Box Sandwiches” due to a risk of food poisoning with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

What is the Problem?

No illnesses have been reported. The recall was announced after the FDA inspected the manufacturer on December 11, 2018, and swabs collected in meat slicing area tested positive for Listeria.

What Sandwiches Were Recalled?

The recalled sandwiches were primarily sold in vending machines and convenience stores in North Carolina and South Carolina. They were packaged in clear plastic and produced between December 17, 2018 and January 4, 2019.

Listeria Food Poisoning

Infections with Listeria may not cause symptoms for up to 70 days. In healthy adults, symptoms may include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In pregnant women, infections wth Listeria can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, or life-threatening infection of the newborn.

What Should I Do?
