Before you do any landscaping or tree trimming, check to see if your electric chainsaw or pole saw from Lowe’s is part of a nationwide recall. The recalled saws may have switches that get stuck “on” and keep running.
Kobalt Chainsaw Recall
On September 23, 2020, a recall was issued for about 150,000 Kobalt® 40-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Electric Chainsaws after 48 reports of the switches staying in the “on” position.
No injuries were reported. The recalled chainsaws were sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide and online at Lowes.com from January 2014 through March 2020 for about $200.
Kobalt Pole Saw Recall
On September 23, 2020, a recall was issued for about 106,400 Kobalt® 40-volt Lithium Ion 8-inch Cordless Electric Pole Saws after 65 reports of the saws continuing to run.
No injuries were reported. The problem is that the switch on the recalled pole saws can fail under a heavy load, which can cause the saw to keep running after the user releases the trigger.
They were sold exclusively at Lowe’s Stores nationwide and online at Lowes.com from March 2017 through October 2019 for about $180.
