IcyBreeze Cooling Misting Fan Recall
In September 2025, IcyBreeze Cooling LLC, a company located in Grapevine, Texas, announced a recall for about 22,600 IcyBreeze Buddy Portable Cooling Misting Fans due to a fire hazard and a risk of burn injuries.
According to the recall website:
“A potential safety issue has been identified with the Buddy’s misting system. Under certain conditions, the system may experience an electrical overload, which could pose a safety risk. While no serious incidents have been reported, we are taking proactive steps to protect our customers by removing all Buddy units from the market.”
What Happened?
No burn injuries were linked to the recalled IcyBreeze Buddy Cooling Misting Fans, but the recall warns: “The misting fan can overheat while charging and ignite, posing a fire hazard.”
There were 7 reports of the misting fans overheating while charging, including 2 reports involving misting fans that caught on fire, according to the recall.
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled misting fans were sold Online at www.icybreeze.com and Amazon.com from November 2023 through August 2024 for about $150. They were advertised to be used for athletic events, workouts, gyms, and other facilities, including both indoor and outdoor uses.
How To Identify Recalled Fans
The recalled fans contain a removable 10,000mAh lithium-ion battery, which is the source of the fire hazard.
The fans have the name “ICYBREEZE” printed on the front and base of the product. They also come with a 1.5-liter water tank to provide water for the cooling fan.
The fans are designed to be portable, with an internal lithium-ion battery that can power the fan for up to 7 hours. The fans also have a cord that can be plugged into a wall-outlet for continuous power.
Can I Get a Refund?
No. Instead of a refund, the manufacturer is asking customers to register on the recall website at https://www.icybreeze.com/buddy-recall-information/, where you can find information on how to get a $150 credit that can be used at several websites that are owned by Solo Brands.
