November 9, 2011 — Today, the manufacturers of the popular “dietary supplements” Hyperdrol, Superdrol, and Slim Xtreme, were found guilty of misleading and defrauding consumers by selling products containing non-FDA approved steroids, scheduled steroids, and designer stimulants. It is illegal to market or sell a product as a “dietary supplement” if the active ingredient in the product is a drug.
The manufacturers of these products were convicted of felonies in federal court for violating a statute that prohibits the introduction and delivery of unapproved drugs in interstate commerce with intent to defraud and mislead.
The following products are affected in this lawsuit:
- Anabolic Resources Superdrol
- Anabolic Xtreme Hyperdrol
- Anabolic Xtreme Slim Xtreme
The two companies involved in the conviction are Anabolic Resources, Inc. and Nutrition Distribution, Inc. They were conducting business under the name “Anabolic Xtreme.”
Nutrition Distribution was found guilty of a felony and fined $100,000 for knowingly manufacturing and distributing Hyperdrol (which contained the scheduled anabolic steroid androstenedione) and Slim Xtreme (which contained a synthetic designer stimulant). The drugs were distributed between February 2007 and August 2009.
Anabolic Resources was also found guilty of a felony, and fined the maximum amount allowed under the statute — $500,000. Anabolic Resources knowingly manufactured and distributed Superdrol, which was labeled as a “dietary supplement” although it actually contained the synthetic steroid methasterone. The drugs were distributed between April 2005 and January 2006.
