Kobayashi Recalls HotHands Hand Warmers for Fire and Burn Hazards

On October 1, 2026, a recall was announced for about 77,000 HotHands® Rechargeable Hand Warmers that were distributed by Kobayashi Consumer Products, LLC, of Dalton, Georgia.

No injuries were reported. Kobayashi said the recall was issued as a precaution because the HotHands Rechargeable Hand Warmers share the same battery and electrical components as OCOOPA hand warmers, which have been linked to hundreds of injuires.

What Is the Overheating Risk?

Hand warmers are used inside gloves, pockets, or in the palm of your hand. If the battery overheats, it is usually directly against the skin. This poses a risk of serious burn injuries. According to the recall:

“The lithium-ion battery and electrical components in the recalled hand warmers can overheat and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards.”
