Harkla Recalls Children’s Sensory Swings for Fall Hazard
In October 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall for thousands of Harkla sensory swings because the swing’s ceiling hook can separate from its plate, “posing a risk of serious injury from a fall hazard.”
The recall involves about 25,541 swings that were sold in the U.S., plus another 5,534 swings that were sold in Canada.
Harkla explains the problem on its own recall page, stating that in certain units “the hook may separate from the ceiling mounting plate, causing the swing to fall.”
What Is the Danger?
A compression swing hangs from the ceiling on mounting hardware, so the weight of the child must be supported by the hook at the top of the swing, and the mounting plate that is attached to the ceiling.
Harkla’s recall FAQ explains that the 4-hole design uses a separate hook that is welded to the mounting plate. The company blames the failures on this defective welded connection. After determining the source of the problem, Harkla issued a recall for every 4-hole mount. The company is now using an updated mounting plate that has a safer design, and this is the part that will be provided in the repair kit.
Which Sensory Swings Are Affected?
The recall covers Harkla children’s compression swings with a blue fabric seat, a 4-hole ceiling hook and ceiling mounting hardware, and drop length of 18 to 24 inches. This includes two models:
- SKU LS-COMP-1BLU — Blue Compression Sensory Swing
- SKU LS-COMP-1BLU-SW — Blue Compression Sensory Swing with Swivel
The SKU is printed on the side of the product packaging. Only swings with a four-hole hook are included. Harkla says its two-hole, one-piece hook is not part of the recall.
Where Were They Sold?
The swings were sold from March 2020 through December 2025 for between $100 and $130. They were sold at Sensory Tool House, Hammer & Jacks, Loaded Sensory and Renew (Faire), and online at Amazon.com and Harkla.co.

Health Canada’s recall notice claims that there were 17 injury reports, out of the same 29 separation report. It separately lists 4 hook separation reports and 1 injury report in Canada.
