Harbor Freight Portland Chainsaw Recall
May 14, 2018 — Harbor Freight Tools has announced a recall for over 1 million chainsaws, including:
- Portland 14-inch electric chainsaws
- One Stop Gardens 14-inch electric chainsaws
- Chicago Electric 14-inch electric chainsaws
What is the problem?
The power switch can malfunction and allow the chainsaw to continue operating after the operator moves the switch to the “off” position, posing a serious injury hazard to the operator.
How Many People Were Injured?
Harbor Freight Tools has received 15 reports of chainsaws continuing to operate after being turned off by the operator, resulting in 3 laceration injuries, including one serious arm injury requiring stitches.
What Chainsaws Were Recalled?
Harbor Freight Tools recalled two models of 14-inch chainsaws under three different brand names. They were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores and online from May 2009 to February 2018 for about $50.
