Conair Linked to Expanded Cuisinart Grill Brush Recall

In August 2026, Conair expanded a recall for Cuisinart grill brushes with metal wire bristles that can detach and get stuck on grills, embedded into food, or swallowed by unsuspecting people.

The expanded recall adds another 1.9 million brushes to the 1.7 million brushes that were previously recalled in July 2026. The total recall now covers 3.6 million brushes nationwide, including in Texas.

What is the Problem?

According to the CPSC: “Small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and stick to the grill or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery.”

A wire that detaches from a grill brush is small enough to go unnoticed on the grill grates, or get stuck in a hamburger patty and other foods. If it is swallowed, the sharp metal wire can get stuck or embedded in the throat, esophagus, or digestive system. This is a life-threatening emergency. In some cases, people have needed surgery to remove the wire and prevent more serious complications.

How Many Incidents Were Reported?

Conair said it received at least 54 reports or reviews from consumers who complained about wire bristles detaching from the brush. In 3 of those reports, people actually swallowed a bristle and had to undergo medical treatment to remove the bristle from their body.
