Giantex Recalls Portable Steam Saunas After Burn Reports
In May 2026, Giantex Inc. issued a voluntary recall of about 1,000 Giantex and Costway 2-liter and 3-liter portable steam saunas due to a serious burn hazard.
According to the CPSC, the sauna’s steam diffuser can be positioned too close to a consumer’s body. This may allow boiling-hot steam to come in contact with the user, which posing a burn hazard.
The saunas were sold online at Amazon and Walmart from January 2023 through December 2025 for between $68 and $100.
What Is the Burn Hazard?
The recalled involves portable steam saunas. These products look like an enclosure, where the user sits inside, with their head sticking out of an opening at the top. A steam unit connects to the enclosure via tubing and delivers hot steam through a diffuser inside the enclosure.
Giantex describes the defect on its own website:
“The Subject Steam Sauna Products may have a design defect that places the boiling hot steam diffuser close to the consumer’s extremities, posing a burn hazard to consumers. The steam diffuser has no fixed position inside the enclosure and can be placed close to user’s extremities. Users are also unable to visually locate and avoid contact with the steam diffuser because their head is outside the enclosure.”
How Many People Were Burned?
Nationwide, Giantex said it has received 9 reports of incidents involving the recalled saunas where consumers suffered burn injuries to their extremities. There was 1 incident of a 2nd-degree burn.
A second-degree burn damages both the outermost layer of skin and the deeper second layer of skin underneath (dermis and epidermis). The symptoms include blisters, severe pain, and lasting skin discoloration. These burns may require emergency medical attention.
Which Products Are Affected?
The recalled portable steam saunas were sold along with a folding chair, foot roller, felt mat, and remote control. The enclosures were sold in black, copper, beige, blue, green, and pink, with “Giantex” or “Costway” imprinted on the front. The recalled products have Model Numbers and SKUs including:
