There were no confirmed reports of illness linked to the recalled waffles, as of October 18, 2024, according to TreeHouse Foods. Instead, the potential risk of Listeria contamination “was discovered through routing testing at the manufacturing facility.”

What Should I Do?

TreeHouse Foods is urging customers to check their freezers for any of the recalled products listed on the recall notice. These products should be thrown away, or returned to the store for a credit.

Contact a healthcare provider if you are concerned about an illness.

What Is The Risk?

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can survive on foods in the freezer, but it is killed when heated to a temperature of 165°F.

Anyone can get sick after eating food that is contaminated with Listeria. Unlike a typical case of food poisoning, these infections can potentially spread beyond the digestive system and cause life-threatening complications like meningitis, sepsis, or death.

Listeria is also far more serious for pregnant women, because they may can have a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infected newborn baby.

According to the FDA, “Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.”
