Frigidaire Mini Fridge Recall

On July 24, 2025, safety officials announced a recall for about 634,000 Frigidaire Mini Fridges due to fire and burn hazards, after more than $700,000 in property damage.

What is the Problem?

The manufacturer, Curtis International, warned consumers that the recalled Frigidaire Mini Fridges can catch on fire. The problem is that the “internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite the surrounding plastic housing,” according to the recall.

How Many Incidents Were Reported?

There were “at least 26 reports of the minifridges smoking, sparking, burning, melting, overheating and catching fire, according to the recall. These reports included 2 people who suffered smoke inhalation injuries, and over $700,000 in property damage.

Was My Portable Mini Fridge Recalled?

The recall involves specific Frigidaire “Retro” Mini Fridges with model numbers EFMIS129, EFMIS137, EFMIS149 and EFMIS175.

The recall only includes units manufactured from January 2020 to December 2023 that do not have a “-B” or “-C” in the model number. To check if your unit is part of the recall, visit the recall website at: https://www.recallrtr.com/minifridge.

You can get a refund if your Frigidaire Mini Fridge was recalled. You can register on the recall website and follow instructions.

To get a refund, you must upload a photo of the serial number and model number on your unit. Then upload a photo of the power cord cut and the word “RECALL” in permanent marker on the front door.
