FitRx SmartBell Dumbbells Recalled After 6 Injuries Reported
In April 2026, Tzumi Electronics recalled approximately 50,000 FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select Adjustable Dumbbells (5-52.5 lbs) due to a serious impact hazard. The recall was classified as a fast track recall through the CPSC.
The CPSC received more than 115 reports of weight plates dislodging from the handle during use. At least 6 people were injured, with reports of broken toes, bruises, contusions, and lacerations.
The dumbbells were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and on Walmart.com from January 2024 through November 2024 for about $100.
What Is the Defect?
Weight plates on the FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select Adjustable Dumbbells can dislodge from the handle during use, posing a risk of serious injury due to impact hazard. The dumbbells adjust from 5 to 52.5 pounds by turning the handle while the dumbbell is nested in the storage tray.
If the weight plates separate from the handle during a lift, they can strike the user or anyone nearby. With plates potentially weighing up to 47.5 pounds, a falling weight can result in broken bones, deep bruising, or lacerations.

Where Were They Sold?
The recalled dumbbells were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from January 2024 through November 2024 for about $100. Walmart operates more than 500 locations across Texas, meaning Texas consumers had wide access to this product.
According to the CPSC, consumers should stop using the recalled dumbbells immediately, write “Recalled” across the tray with permanent marker or spray paint, register at myfitrx.com/recall-52-lbs, and dispose of the product after registration is confirmed. How Many People Were Injured?
The CPSC has received more than 115 reports of weight plates dislodging during use and at least 6 injuries, including broken toes, bruises, contusions, and lacerations. Official reports typically underrepresent the actual number of incidents, as many consumers do not file formal complaints.
If you were using a FitRx SmartBell dumbbell and a weight plate separated from the handle and struck you, your experience matches what more than 115 other consumers have reported. You may have an injury claim.
