Bella Espresso Makers Recalled After 8 People Injured

In March 2025, Sensio Inc. recalled about 12,300 Bella Pro Series® and Cooks® Steam Espresso Makers after 8 people were injured when the brew-cup handle shattered the glass carafe.

What is the Problem?

Sensio warned that the brew-cup handle can eject too forcefully and shatter the glass carafe. This poses a risk of lacerations (cuts) from broken glass, and also a burn injury risk from extremely hot espresso.

How Many People Were Injured?

There were 18 reports of the brew-cup handles ejecting, 8 of which reported burn and/or laceration injuries, according to the recall. Some people suffered both burn injuries and lacerations.

How To Identify Recalled Espresso Makers

Sensio recalled two brands of steam espresso makers:

• Bella Pro Series Steam Espresso Maker: Model 90195
• Cooks Steam Espresso Maker: Model 22395

They were sold nationwide at JCPenney stores and online at BestBuy.com and JCPenney.com from August 2023 through January 2025 for between $40 and $60.

As of March 17, 2025, Sensio has discontinued the sale of this product.

What Should I Do?

Check the model number located on a sticker under your espresso machine. The model number is identified as the “Item” number. These are the two recalled model numbers:

1. 90195
2. 22395

Can I Get a Refund?

Yes. Sensio is offering a refund for the recalled steam espresso makers. You can choose either a $50 check, or a $50 e-gift card from the retailer where the product was purchased (JC Penney or Best Buy). To register for a refund, visit the recall website at https://bellakitchenware.com/recall/.
