Why Were The Space Heaters Recalled?
On October 29, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall for about 338,800 DREO space heaters (model DR-HSH015) due to a fire hazard and a risk of severe, life-threatening burn injuries.
The voluntary recall was announced in the U.S. and Canada by DREO, which described the hazard on its own recall website:
“The recalled space heaters can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards.”
What Is the Risk?
The recall involves ceramic electric space heaters. The recall does not explain why, but these products can potentially get too hot, overheat and ignite. This poses a fire hazard and a risk of property damage, burn injuries, or even death. The following incidents were reported:
- Heaters igniting (17 reports)
- Property damage (three of those reports)
- A burn injury to the hand (one of those reports)
DREO is asking owners to stop using the space heaters and register for the recall even if it has been working normally. Do not sell or give it away.
