Cuisinart Blender Juicer Recalled for Laceration Hazard
On December 1, 2022, about 66,000 Cuisinart Compact Blender Juicer Extractor Combos were recalled due to a laceration hazard from the blades detaching from the base during use. The loose blades can also puncture the blender container.
What is the Problem?
The problem is that a nut holding the blender blade assembly can loosen and detach from the base when in use. Consumers who touch a loose blade can suffer laceration injuries.
No injuries were reported as of December 2022, but there were 3 reports of the blender blade detaching. In one report, the blade punctured through the blender container.
What Products Were Recalled?
The recall involves the Cuisinart Compact Blender & Juice Extractor Combos with Model CBJ-450. The model number is printed on the label located on the bottom of the base and on the original packaging.
They were sold nationwide in the U.S. at stores like Crate & Barrel and online retailers from November 2021 to August 2022 for $80.
What Should I Do?
The manufacturer, Conair LLC, is asking consumers to immediately stop using the blender part of the recalled Cuisinart Blender Juicers and contact the company for a free replacement blade assembly. The juicer part is unaffected by the problem and can continue to be used.
