April 12, 2019 — Sandwiches, salads, and wraps that were sold under the Corner Store Market® label at Circle K and Valero stores in Texas were recalled because they may be contaminated with Listeria.
No illnesses were reported. The recall was announced after the FDA found positive tests for Listeria on production line equipment.
The recalled ready-to-eat foods were distributed at Valero Corner Stores and Circle K stores in Texas under the “Corner Store Market®” brand-name, in various packaging shapes and sizes.
They are marked with Lot # (SELL BY DATE): 040819, 040919, 041119, 041319, 041419, 041519, 041619, 041819 and 042019.
The recall was issued by Great American Marketing Company of Houston, Texas, and includes the following types of ready-to-eat sandwiches, wraps and salads:
Caesar salad, chef salad, club wrap, chicken caesar wrap, deli cut ham and American sandwiches, deli cut turkey sandwiches, chicken salad, jalapeño pimento cheese, Italian 6″ sub sandwiches, turkey pepper-jack 6″ sub sandwiches, turkey and swiss sandwiches, and ham and cheddar sandwiches.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, including meningitis, bloodstream infections, and pregnancy complications. Pregnant women may have no symptoms, but suffer a stillbirth, miscarriage, or infection of the newborn baby.
It can take up to 70 days for symptoms of Listeria to appear. The symptoms may include a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
