Tip Top Poultry Chicken Recall
In October 2019, Tip Top Poultry Inc. expanded a recall for ready-to-eat chicken that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The expanded recall involves poultry items that were produced from January 21, 2019 through September 24, 2019, including frozen, fully-cooked, diced or shredded, and ready-to-eat chicken products.

Tip Top Poultry recalled the chicken items after being notified that multiple products tested positive for Listeria by health officials in Canada in response to an outbreak of food poisoning illnesses.

Symptoms of Listeria Food Poisoning
Listeria monocytogenes is a type of bacteria that can cause serious and sometime fatal food poisoning illnesses. In adults, the symptoms of an infection may not appear for up to 70 days.
The symptoms of a Listeria infection may include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, and diarrhea.
Among pregnant women, an infection with Listeria can cause a miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, or a life-threatening infection of the newborn baby.
