Wegmans Recalls Cauliflower Veggie Mixes

December 18, 2018 — Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. has recalled cauliflower rice and stir fry vegetable blends due to a risk of E. coli contamination.

The recalled products (with use-by dates of 12/11/18 through 12/22/18) are as follows:

  • Wegmans Cauliflower Rice, 1 lb. pkg. UPC #25313500000
  • Wegmans Cauliflower Rice, 8 oz. pkg. UPC #25307200000
  • Wegmans Stir Fry Blend (with cauliflower), 1 lb. pkg. UPC #25335800000
  • Wegmans Veggie (cauliflower) Rice Blend (sold by the pound), UPC #253162000000

The products were sold in the produce department between December 7 and December 18, 2018 at Wegmans grocery stores in the following states: The products were sold in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts.

Cauliflower Recalled by Farm Linked to E. coli Outbreak

December 2018 — Adam Bros. Farming, Inc., of Santa Maria, California, announced a voluntary recall for cauliflower, red leaf lettuce, and green leaf lettuce that was harvested between November 27 and November 30, 2018, due to a possible risk of contamination with E. coli O157:H7.

What is the Problem?

Adam Bros. recalled the cauliflower and lettuce after health officials discovered that sediment from an agricultural water reservoir on the farm near where the produce was growing tested positive for E. coli O157:H7.

Filtered and treated water from the reservoir may have come in contact with the produce after it was harvested. None of the filtered, treated water has tested positive for E. coli.”

How Many People Are Sick?

Lettuce from the Central Coast growing regions in northern and central California has been linked to an outbreak of E. coli that sickened at least 59 people in 15 states between October 5, 2018 and November 16, 2018.

Where Was the Cauliflower Sold?

The recalled cauliflower was distributed to wholesalers in Canada, Mexico (Tijuana), and the following U.S. states: Arizona, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania.
