UPDATE: Fruit & Cheese Plate from Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Added to Recall

On October 7, 2022, Cut Fruit Express recalled 6.2-oz. plastic packages of Caribou Coffee Fruit and Cheese Plate because it contains cheese that may be contaminated with Listeria. The recalled Fruit & Cheese Plate was shipped from September 26 through October 5 and sold at Caribou Stores inside the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Caribou locations. The item has use-by dates of 9/30/2022, 10/2/2022, 10/4/2022, 10/7/2022, and 10/9/2022.

UPDATE: Baked Brie Added to Recall

On October 5, 2022, Old Europe Cheese expanded the recall to include 5 brands of Baked Brie with best-by dates through December 14, 2022, including:

  • Culinary Tour® Plain Baked Brie and Cranberry Baked Brie
  • La Bonne Vie® Plain Baked Brie and Cranberry Baked Brie
  • Lidl® Plain Baked Brie, Cranberry Baked Brie, and Fig Baked Brie
  • Primo Taglio® Plain Baked Brie
  • Reny Picot® Plain Baked Brie, Apple Baked Brie, Cranberry Baked Brie, and Fig Baked Brie

St. Louis Brie Added to Recall

In September 2022, Texas was one of six states where people were infected with Listeria after eating Brie and Camembert cheeses that were recalled by Old Europe Cheese Inc.

How Many People Got Sick?

At least 6 people were infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes from 6 states, according to the CDC outbreak investigation. The outbreak has been ongoing since August 2017, and the true number of sick people is likely far higher than the number of illnesses that were confirmed.

Where Were Illnesses Reported?

Illnesses were reported in Texas, California, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, but unreported illnesses may have occurred in other states. The recalled cheeses were sold nationwide in the U.S. and also Mexico.

Signs & Symptoms of Listeria Infection

Food poisoning with Listeria can spread beyond the intestines to other parts of the body and become very serious, or even deadly.

The symptoms of a serious illness usually start within 2 weeks of eating contaminated food, but they sometimes take up to 10 weeks.

  • For non-pregnant people the symptoms can include a headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, fever and muscle aches.
  • Pregnant women may have only a mild illness, fever, fatigue, or muscle aches, but suffer a miscarriage, pregnancy loss, premature birth, serious illness or death in newborn baby, according to the CDC.
