Hisense Recalls 81,800 Babysense Max View Baby Monitors for Fire Hazard

In February 2026, Hisense Ltd. announced a recall for approximately 81,800 Babysense® Max View Baby Monitors due to a fire hazard that may occur when the “parent unit” is charging.

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled baby monitors were sold on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and babylist.com from January 2023 through December 2025, at prices ranging from $90 to $180. Hisense is providing free replacement display units to consumers.

What is the Fire Hazard?

The defect is in the display unit, also known as the handheld “parent screen” that allows caregivers to see and hear their baby.

This is not the camera that is placed in the child’s room. Instead, it is the screen that the parent holds or charges nearby. The problem is that when the parent unit is connected to a charger, the internal lithium-ion battery can overheat and/or spark, creating a fire hazard.

According to the recall warning:

The display or “parent” unit of the Max View baby monitors can overheat and/or spark when charging, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Were Any Injuries Reported?

No. However, Hisense said it has received 11 reports of incidents involving the display unit involving overheating and sparking. No injuries were confirmed, but the potential for harm (especially in a home with young children) is significant.

How Many Texans Are Affected?

It is possible that many Texas families purchased the recalled Babysense Max View Baby Monitor during its sales window from 2023 through 2025. The potential consequences of this safety defect include:

  • Fire or ignition near a baby’s room
  • Smoke damage throughout the home
  • Property loss from fire spreading to furniture, carpeting, or walls
  • Risk of serious injury or death from fire or smoke

Which Baby Monitors Are Affected?

Here’s how you can identify the recalled baby monitors, if you have one in your home:

  • Product name: Babysense Max View Baby Monitor
  • Model number: VBM55 (display unit model number: VBM55RX, on back label)
  • Screen markings: “5.5” HD 1080P” on upper left of screen; “babysense” logo on lower portion
  • Sold at: Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and babylist.com
  • Sale period: January 2023 – December 2025
  • Price range: $90–$180
  • Manufacturer: Hisense Ltd., Israel; manufactured in China

If you believe you have an affected unit, stop using the display unit immediately. Do not charge it. Contact Hisense at (833) 689-2652 or visit www.recallsecure.com for a free replacement.

Families rely on baby monitors to keep their children safe. A device placed near a baby’s room that sparks or overheats while charging is not just a product defect; it’s a threat to the entire household.

Nurseries are often filled with soft furnishings, cribs, and other flammable materials that can allow a fire to spread quickly.

It doesn’t matter if you live in a small-town home, a suburban neighborhood outside Austin, or a family residence in a major Texas city, a fire starting in or near a child’s room can cause devastating property damage and put lives at risk.

If you purchased the Babysense Max View Baby Monitor between January 2023 and December 2025, you may have an affected unit in your home right now.

You have a right to feel safe when using a product, especially one that is advertised to make parenting and caregiving more safe. Instead, when a defective device overheats, sparks, or catches fire near a sleeping infant, the consequences can be catastrophic. If you were harmed, contact a lawyer.
