Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker Lawsuit Filed by Burned Woman

June 23, 2025 — A lawsuit has been filed by a woman who was seriously burned by a Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker when the lid suddenly blew off and ejected scalding-hot food.

The lawsuit was filed by Martha G., a woman from Ohio who purchased her Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker from an “independent distributor” for the manufacturer, Hy Cite Enterprises.

In July 2023, she allegedly suffered “serious and substantial burn injuries” as a result of defective safety features in the pressure cooker.

Her injuries specifically involved a Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker, which is a stovetop pressure cooker. Unlike an electric pressure cooker, the Royal Prestige is designed to be used on cooktops.

In her lawsuit, she claims that it was advertised to include safety features in the lid. For example, the manufacturer claimed that it has “four safety mechanisms,” according to the website advertising the pressure cooker.

On July 1, 2023, she was burned as a result of the “pressure cooker’s lid suddenly and unexpectedly ejecting off the pressure cooker’s pot” when the unit was still pressurized, according to her lawsuit.

The sudden release of built-up pressure caused the “scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker and onto Plaintiff.”

She is seeking damages for her “significant and painful bodily injuries, medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish, and diminished enjoyment of life,” according to the complaint.

Her lawsuit was filed against Hy Cite Enterprises LLC, a Wisconsin LLC, on May 21, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin — Case: 3:25-cv-00420.
