January 19, 2023 — Seven people were injured in a fire and explosion at a Phillips 66 Refinery tank farm in Borger, Texas, according to The Eagle Press.
All 7 people were treated for burn injuries, according to local news reports.
Three workers were treated for 2nd-degree burns at the Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger, while 4 others were transported in critical condition to the University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
The fire occurred on January 17 at the Johnson Tank Farm, which is associated with the Phillips 66 Borger Refinery.
The refinery is a 149,000-barrel-per-day facility that is located 50 miles northeast of Amarillo, Texas, according to Reuters.
Texas is home to dozens of massive oil refineries, and fires are all to common. In 2019, a massive explosion at the ExxonMobil Baytown refinery near Houston burned 37 people and spewed pollution into the air.
