June 24, 2015 — Niagara Bottling has issued a recall for 14 brands of bottled water that may be tainted with E. coli.
The recall was issued for spring water produced at two Pennsylvania plants between June 10 and June 18. There have been no reports of consumers getting sick. No finished products have tested positive for E. coli, the company said.
Niagara spokesman Stan Bratskeir said contamination was found at a water provider, Far Away Springs
According to CNN, Far Away Springs said the water tested positive for E. coli on June 10, but tested negative after it was re-checked. Another 27 tests on June 10 were also negative and 175 tests during the next week were also negative.
Infection with E. coli can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, and other symptoms. The infection can also be life-threatening, especially for young children, older adults, and people with compromised immune systems.
