January 19, 2026 — A woman who was burned by a pressure cooker that exploded has filed a lawsuit against Amazon.
The plaintiff, Chung T. N., is a resident of Virginia who claims that she was severely burned by a defective Mueller UltraPot 6-Quart Pressure Cooker (also called an “Instant Crock 10-in-1 Pot”) from Amazon.com.
According to her lawsuit, the incident occurred on February 17, 2024, when the safety features failed. The lid opened while the unit was still pressurized, which ejected the scalding-hot contents onto her body.
Her lawsuit specifically claims that she was burned as a result of the “pressure cooker’s defective interlock and non-compliance with industry standards, specifically UL 136 Sections 9 and 10.”
Hundreds of a pressure cooker lawsuits have been filed nationwide against a variety of manufacturers and retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, ALDI, and others.
Many of these lawsuits claim that innocent consumers were not adequately warned about the safety risks of pressure cookers.
In other lawsuits, consumers claim that the pressure cooker was defective and unreasonably dangerous because the “safety features” in the lid failed to actually prevent the lid from opening when the unit was pressurized.
The lawsuit was filed on January 15, 2026 against Amazon.com in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (Seattle) — Case Number 2:26-cv-00136.
