The recall was issued after the company was informed by a supplier that an area of their facility where the field peas and snaps were blended tested positive for Listeria on a non-food contact surface.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that is commonly found in soil. Infections pose serious health risks for young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Infection can also cause miscarriage and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Almost everyone who is diagnosed with Listeria has an “invasive” infection, in which the bacteria spreads beyond the gastrointestinal system. Symptoms can include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions in addition to fever and muscle aches.
