February 17, 2014 — MyNicKnaxs, LLC and the FDA have announced a recall for several weigh-loss pills because they contain undeclared pharmaceutical drugs, including sibutramine and phenolphthalein or a combination of both.

Recalled diet pills include:
- Magic Slim
- Fruta Bio
- Slim Easy
- Super Fat Burning Bomb
- Slim Xtreme
- Meizi Evolution
- Meizitang Strong Version Botanical Slimming

Phenolphthalein was once used in over-the-counter laxatives, but it was withdrawn from the market over concerns about carcinogenicity. Sibutramine is an appetite-suppressant that was withdrawn from the market in 2010 over concern about seizures, heart attacks, strokes, and abnormal heart rhythm.
The recall was initiated on February 4 after an FDA lab analysis of Reduce Weight Fruta Planta found 10.2-mg of phenolphthalein. All lots were recalled. According to the FDA:
“These undeclared ingredients makes these products unapproved new drugs for which safety and efficacy have not been established.”
