January 14, 2020 — Lipari Foods has issued another recall for more pre-packaged sandwiches under the Premo® and Fresh Grab® labels due to a risk of Listeria contamination.
The company previously recalled a variety of wedge sandwiches on January 6.
No illnesses were reported in either recall. The recalls were issued in response to a positive environmental test for Listeria in Lipari Foods’ manufacturing facility, JLM.
Lipari Foods began distributing the recalled sandwiches to food service and retail stores on January 3, 2020. They were sold in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
The sandwiches are marked with “best-by” dates of 1/23/2020 or 1/21/2020.
The original Fresh Grab sandwich recall involves wedge sandwiches, including Ham/American, Egg Salad, Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad, and Turkey. The expanded recall includes Breakfast Muffin, Chicken & Swiss, and Turkey & Swiss sandwiches.
The original Premo sandwich recall involves wedge sandwiches, such as Egg Salad, Ham & Cheese, Chicken Salad, and Tuna Salad. The expanded recall includes the Meat Lover’s Sub, Pub Burger, Turkey & Cheese on Pretzel Sub, Turkey & Swiss sandwich, and Turkey & Garlic Mayo sandwich.
Illnesses with Listeria monocytogenes can be very serious for pregnant women or people with vulnerable immune systems. The complications may include stillbirth or miscarriage in pregnancy, bloodstream infections, sepsis, brain inflammation, meningitis, encephalitis, or death.
