January 13, 2023 — LG Electronics recalled more than 52,000 86-inch Smart TVs that can tip over and cause serious injuries or death.
The recall involves 4 models of LG 86-inch Smart TVs that were sold in the U.S., Canada and Mexico from March 2022 to September 2022.
The model numbers are 86UQ8000AUB, 86UQ7070ZUD, 86UQ7590PUD, and 86NANO75UQA. The model number is printed on a label on the back bottom-right corner of the TV.
LG said it received 22 reports of TV stand instability, including 12 reports of tip-over accidents.
No injuries or deaths were reported, but LG warned that TVs pose “serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in injuries or death to children and others,” according to the recall.
LG is asking consumers to immediately stop using the TV stand, remove the TV and put it in a safe location away from children.
Consumers should then contact LG Electronics for “instructions on how to inspect the unit and to obtain replacement screws and stand parts, including help from a technician for a free repair.” For more information, visit http://www.lgecares.com/tvstand.
