Green Toys Mini Vehicles Recalled for Choking Hazard

September 20, 2012 — The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada are cooperating with Green Toys, Inc., to voluntarily recall Mini Vehicles. The problem is that components of the wheel and hubcaps can detach, which presents a choking hazard for small children. Although no injuries have been reported, Green Toys has received 10 reports of wheel pieces detaching or loosening from the vehicles.

The recall affects approximately 50,000 products sold in the United States and 2,500 in Canada. The cars are made of plastic that is recycled from milk jugs, and they are made in California. The vehicles come in a variety of colors, and they were sold from March 2012 until June 2012.

Customers should check to see whether the toys they purchased are part of the recall. The following seven vehicles are being recalled:

• MVHA-1014 – Mini Vehicle Set
• MAMW-1015 – Mini Ambulance
• MVSA-1016 – Mini Vehicle Assortment
• MFBR-1018 – Mini Red Fastback
• MPCB-1020 – Mini Police Car
• MTXY-1021 – Mini Taxi
• MVFA-1022 – Mini Fastback Set

Model type can be located on the bottom of the toy’s packaging. The model number may also be located on the bottom of the car itself. Cars with an “I” etched into the underside of the vehicle next to the date stamp are not part of the recall.

Green Toys, Inc., the CPSC, and Health Canada are recommending that customers take the toys away from children and contact the company for a full refund.
