June 28, 2024 — Foppen Seafood has recalled smoked salmon slices that were sold in Texas and other states due to a risk of food poisoning with Listeria.
The recall involves toast-sized Foppen Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices in 8.1-oz. packages with UPC Code 8 40137 10000 2 and Lot Number 412 (printed in the clear plastic window cut-out on the front of the package).
The smoked salmon slices were distributed to Kroger and Payless Supermarkets in Texas and other states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
No infections were reported, but the salmon may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause severe food poisoning illnesses. The risk is highest for young children, elderly adults, pregnant women, and people with vulnerable immune systems.
