January 7, 2016 — A woman from Florida claims WEN hair care products caused significant hair loss and she plans on joining a lawsuit with over 200 other women who experienced similar problems.

News Channel 8 talked to Tina Bak, a mother from Brooksville, Florida, who was given a $35 bottle of WEN as a birthday gift.

Problems began soon after she started using WEN. Her scalp tingled and she noticed her bathtub drain was clogged with chunks of hair. She began to notice bald spots expanding on her scalp. Her hair would rip out from the root when she scratched her itchy scalp or brushed her hair.

She thought she was sick and started taking vitamins — until she saw a News Channel 8 report on the class action lawsuit against WEN. Now, she hopes to join the class action lawsuit, and said:

“This company robbed us of our self-esteem. I don’t even know if my hair will ever grow back. I don’t trust any product now. I don’t even want to wash my hair.”

Hundreds of women from all over the United States have reported sudden and severe hair loss after using WEN. Attorneys say the “5-in-1” formula is like using lotion to wash your hair because it contains virtually no cleanser and does not easily rinse out.

The manufacturers of WEN deny the product causes baldness and told NBC News, “There are many reasons why individuals may lose their hair, all unrelated to WEN hair care products.”
