What Makes These Power Banks Dangerous?
The lithium-ion battery in the recalled power banks can overheat and ignite. This poses burn injury hazards, as well as a risk of serious injury or death from fires. The reports received so far include a burn to one consumer’s hand, a burn to another consumer’s arm, and 4 incidents of minor property damage.
These chargers attach magnetically to the back of a phone, so they are often in a person’s hand or pocket while in use. A battery fire in a device held that close to the body can lead to severe burn injuries.
Which Chargers Are Affected?
The recall covers Flaunt MagSafe Battery Chargers with model number E33A. Check the back label, which is marked with FLAUNT and Model: E33A.
- Model E33A with “FLAUNT” engraved on the front right side
- Small circular button in the bottom center of the front
- Sold in melon, black, lavender, and white
- About 3 by 2 by 0.25 inches, weighing around 3.2 ounces
Where Were They Sold?
The power banks were sold online at flauntcases.com from May 2024 through April 2025 for about $65. Because they were sold online, they could be purchased anywhere in the country, including Texas.
The CPSC urges consumers to stop using the recalled power banks immediately and register at Flaunt’s recall page for a refund. The chargers must not go in your household trash can, dumpsters, or ordinary recycling containers due to the increased fire hazard associated with lithium-ion batteries.
How Many People Were Injured?
Nationally, Flaunt has received 5 reports of the power banks overheating and catching fire. Those reports include 2 burn injuries and 4 reports of minor property damage.
