August 12, 2014 — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers not to use Herbal Vigor Quick Fix or Arize supplements because they contain hidden ingredients.
Federal law prohibits pharmaceutical drug ingredients in dietary supplement. Unfortunately, there is a growing trend of supplements with hidden ingredients that are marketed as “all-natural.” The FDA is unable to test every supplement. Therefore, consumers should exercise caution before purchasing supplements for sexual enhancement.
Arize
Arize is a product that is marketed for male sexual enhancement. Laboratory testing discovered that it contains sulfoaildenafil, a drug that is similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra.
This ingredient can interact with nitrates in medications that are commonly prescribed to treat diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. Erectile dysfunction is a common side effect of these medical conditions. A drug interaction could cause life-threatening low blood pressure.
Herbal Vigor Quick Fix
Herbal Vigor Quick Fix is also marketed for male sexual enhancement. Laboratory analysis detected tadalafil, the active ingredient in Cialis. According to the FDA:
“This undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates.”
Consumers should stop using these products immediately and throw them away. If you have experienced any negative side effects, contact a healthcare professional as soon as possible.
