June 3, 2014 — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for several dietary supplements that are marketed for male sexual enhancement. FDA laboratory analysis has detected illegal, undeclared pharmaceutical drug ingredients.
Most of the products contain sildenafil (Viagra) or tadalafil (Cialis). Some also contain chemical analogs of sildenafil.
These drugs can interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, which could result in life-threatening low blood pressure.
Nitrates are found in medications that are used to treat diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart problems. Erectile dysfunction is a common complication of these diseases.
Recalled products include:
- GoldReallas: sildenafil and thiosildenafil
- Full Throttle on Demand: propoxyphenyl sildenafil
- 3 Hard Knights: sildenafil and thiosildenafil
- Dick’s Hard Up: tadalafil
- Eyeful: hydroxythiohomosildenafil
- Liu Bian Li: sildenafil
