Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaners Recalled for Infection Risk

February 8, 2023 — About 4.9 million bottles of Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner were recalled due to a risk of infections with Pseudomonas or other dangerous types of bacteria.

The recall was announced by the manufacturer, Colgate-Palmolive. No infections were reported, but the recalled bottles of Fabuloso contain “inadequate” amounts of a preservative to kill bacteria.

The risk is that Fabuloso might be contaminated with Pseudomonas, a common type of bacteria that is found widely in soil and water. Some strains are extremely dangerous because the infections are so highly resistant to antibiotics.

The recall only involves Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner — not the antibacterial varieties or other types of Fabuloso.

The recalled bottles were sold nationwide from December 2022 through January 2023 at many stores and websites, including Amazon.com, Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Sam’s Club, The Home Depot, and more.

The products can be identified by the first 8 digits of the lot code: 2348US78 through 2365US78 and 3001US78 through 3023US78.
