December 28, 2022 — The San Augustine Sheriff’s Office has reported that a hydraulic line blowout at an East Texas oil rig has killed 2 men and injured 3 others.

The incident occurred on the evening of December 5, 2022, at an oil rig located near Sabine and Nacogdoches, Texas.

According to law enforcement, 2 men died from their injuries after a hydraulic line got loose. Three other men suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to local hospitals for treatment.

Sheriff Cartwright said there was no explosion and no fire. Instead, the problem was a “loose hydraulic line” at an old well, according to the Daily News.

The workers were trying to restart the line when it accumulated too much pressure and burst.

The two deceased men were working for different oil & gas companies, Jaguar and E6 Oil and Gas, respectively.

OSHA and the Texas Railroad Commission are investigating.
