Cybex International Arm Curl Machine Recall

September 11, 2015 — Cybex International has issued a recall for about 4,400 arm curl machines after receiving 12 reports of injury to users.

The machines allow users to select a weight to perform bicep curls. The user sits on a seat and grabs the swivel handle to perform a curl motion toward their body. The problems is that the swivel handles can break off from the frame, causing users to hit themselves in the face or head.

Cybex has received 108 reports of incidents, including one person who went blind in one eye, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall involves the following arm curl machines:

• VR2 Arm Curl
• VR2TA Arm Curl
• Eagle Arm Curl
• VR3 Arm Curl

The arm curl machines were manufactured in the United States and sold to distributors or gyms from November 1996 through October 2008 for $3,700-4,200. For a list of serial numbers affected by the recall, visit www.cybexintl.com.

Cybex is asking consumers to immediately stop using the recalled arm curl machines and contact the firm for a free repair kit.
