Chipotle Investigating Another Food Poisoning Scare

December 22, 2017 — Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. and health officials in Los Angeles are investigating another possible outbreak of food poisoning.

The company has struggled to bounce back after several outbreaks of E. coli and Salmonella in 2015 sickened customers throughout the United States, including 8 who were hospitalized.

Chipotle said it is aware of 3 reports of food poisoning on a user-generated website, www.iWasPoisoned.com, but the reports have not been clinically substantiated.

The victims describe nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea after eating at the Chipotle at at 4550 W. Pico Blvd in Los Angeles, California. According to one report:

“My whole family and I ate at Chipotle 2 days before we started experiencing stomach pains and nausea. It was constant vomiting every 2 hours and weakness. We all had burrito bowls with meat, beans, rice, and quac. The symptoms lasted for 2 days now.”

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Health Department said the agency was “aware of reports of illness and is investigating.”

During the investigation, Chipotle has implemented heightened sanitization measures at the restaurant where illnesses were reported.
