June 23, 2016 — Bolthouse Farms, Inc. has recalled 3.8 million bottles of protein shakes after customers reported illnesses and possible spoilage.
The company said the drinks may “appear lumpy, taste unpleasant and have an off odor.”
The source of the problem is currently under investigation. In the meantime, the recalled drinks should not be consumed.
The recall affects Bolthouse Farms branded “Protein PLUS” shakes in vanilla, chocolate, coffee, coconut, strawberry, and banana honey flavors. It also includes “Mocha Cappuccino Perfectly Protein” beverages.
Bolthouse Farms posed a recall on its website and with the FDA. It includes products with “Best-By” dates between June 20, 2016 and September 18, 2016.
