Avon Eyelash Curler Recalled After 13 Injuries

May 15, 2014 — Avon Products Inc. is recalling nearly 520,000 Ergonomic Eyelash Curlers sold in the U.S. and Canada after receiving two dozen reports of the device breaking, including 13 reports of injury. Three people needed medical attention.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) posted a recall notification to warn that the eyelash curler can break, exposing a metal pin which poses an eye injury hazard to consumers. There have been six reports of the spring breaking.

What Product Was Recalled?

The recalled Ergonomic Eyelash Curler is silver with black ergonomic finger grips. The word Avon is engraved in the silver upper lash curling bar.

The recalled product has the Avon model number F3093441, which can be found on the product’s box. The products were sold by independent sales representatives and online at www.avon.com from January 2007 through April 2014 for about $5.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Ergonomic Eyelash Curler and return it to Avon in exchange for either a refund or a Mega Effects Mascara.”
