January 11, 2024 — Ride Aventon has recalled about 2,300 Class 2 Sinch.2 Folding E-Bicycles due to a crash hazard.
The problem is that the motor on the recalled e-bikes can accelerate unexpectedly, resulting in a loss of control.
Riders can suffer life-threatening injuries or die if they crash, although no injuries were reported.
Ride Aventon said it received 6 reports of the recalled e-bikes accelerating unexpectedly.
The recalled Sinch.2 folding e-bikes were sold at bike stores nationwide and online from April 2023 through August 2023 for about $1,800.
Ride Aventon is asking customers to immediately stop using the recalled e-bikes and contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free repair, including a software update to the controller.
